"Movement Matters" at MA State House

Over 175 PTs, PTAs and PT/PTA students visited Beacon Hill on Tuesday, May 19th for PT Day on Beacon Hill and our "Movement Matters" exhibit in the Great Hall of the State House.

The day was full of activity for APTAMA members who visited their state Representatives and state Senators to meet on APTAMA's legislative priorities for 2015-16.  In addition, legislators, staffers and visitors to the State House were able to see numerous aspects of physical therapy through the ten exhibits prepared by APTAMA members.  These exhibits included falls prevention, dizziness, balance screening, golf fitness, heart health, keeping kids moving, pelvic health, choosing the right footwear, workplace wellness, and youth throwing injuries.

APTA Public Policy Chair Matt McManus commented, "This was a great day for the chapter, but our advocacy efforts can't stop here.  We need to continue to advocate on behalf of our patients and our profession.  Thanks to all who attended and we look forward to engaging the rest of the APTAMA membership in the coming months."

Kudos to APTAMA Event Chair Abby Folger, who orchestrated a fantastic event for the Chapter.
