The Early Professional Special Interest Group (EPSIG) is continuing our mentorship matching program for mentees to be matched with willing mentors throughout the state. We are now beginning the recruitment process for our next cycle which will begin in January. Below is some information about the program and a link to get started:
How will this work?
An early professional within their first few years of practice will be matched with a PT/PTA with greater than 3 years of experience. Students within their last professional year of the PT/PTA program can also participate in the program, and they will be matched with an early professional as a mentor. Early professionals have the option of becoming a mentee and/or a mentor, based on their interest.
What will my responsibilities be?
Within the first quarter of matching, it is expected that the mentor and mentee have an in-person meeting, and will have some form of contact each month of the mentorship (this will be agreed upon by the pair). We also require that the pair attend at least one EPSIG event and one APTA of MA event within the year. Participants are required to have a one-year time commitment to the program, with the option to extend their mentorship at the end of the year if interested.
Will I have support?
We currently have a task force generating our standards outline so if you have any input we would appreciate hearing from you! We will be planning on checking in quarterly throughout the year to see how the match is going.
Sounds like a great cause! How do I get involved?
There will be four opportunities to match throughout the year. This match cycle is for October 1st start date, but there will also be cycles for January 1st, April 1st and July 1st.
