APTA MA Pelvic Health Symposium
APTA MA Pelvic Health Symposium will be a day of collaborative learning and movement through special topics related to advancing knowledge in pelvic health. Both seasoned providers and those new to interest in pelvic health are welcome. Presentations will focus on growth in external treatments and incorporating the whole body into pelvic health care. Hosted by APTA MA Pelvic Health SIG onsite at CMT Medical, a DME provider in pelvic health for over 30 years will allow opportunity to see new treatment tools and technology available for patient care.
Dress in comfortable clothes as there will be movement-based learning throughout the day! Both seasoned providers and those new to interest in pelvic health are welcome. This event will award CEUs in addition the opportunity to network and learn with other pelvic health providers.

Presenters:

Dustienne Miller, PT, MS, PWCS, CYT is a board certified pelvic and women’s health physical therapist and yoga teacher. She is the creator of the pelvic health yoga video series “Your Pace Yoga”. She authored a two-day continuing education course teaching the integration of yoga into pelvic health rehabilitation to practitioners around the world. She is a contributing author in two books about pelvic health and yoga, “Yoga Mama: The Practitioner’s Guide to Prenatal Yoga” and “Healing in Urology”. She is on the board of directors for the International Pelvic Pain Society.
Prior to specializing in pelvic health, she had the pleasure of working as a physical therapist backstage for Broadway shows. Dustienne performed in musical theatre for many years and now is a professor of dance at Boston Conservatory at Berklee. Her clinical practice, Flourish Physical Therapy, sits riverside in Boston’s Back Bay.

Yasaman (Yassi) Zarbafian PT, DPT, OCS is both a Senior Physical Therapist at Mass General Hospital and an Instructor for MGH Institute of Health Professions. She is a board certified orthopedic physical therapist who is additionally trained in all gender care for pelvic health conditions. She completed specialized training in obstetrics conditions through APTA. She serves as the Vice-Chair for APTA MA Pelvic Health SIG where she has been instrumental in hosting career panel events to increase future pelvic health rehabilitation provider interest. She brings her heart and great energy for community facing pelvic health education organizing APTA MA’s Pelvic Health SIG presence at Boston Pride.
She is originally from Iran and has a passion for equitable access to pelvic health care for clients in need. Away from work, Yassi enjoys a biking adventure, reading a good book, and cooking delicious recipes.

Lauren Peterson, PT, MS, CYT is a pelvic health physical therapist at Southcoast Health in a not for profit hospital-based outpatient setting. Additionally, she recently pursued her entrepreneur spirit to open Anchored Physical Therapy, a private pay physical therapy practice focusing on pelvic health needs. She has more than 20 years of clinical experience across diverse practice areas, including pediatrics, home care, and pelvic floor rehabilitation. Lauren serves as a teaching assistant with Herman and Wallace Pelvic Rehabilitation Institute and is a 200-hour certified yoga teacher. She owns and operates No Place Like Ohm which specializes in bringing yoga based wellness to home bound clients. She is passionate about integrating movement, education, and evidence-based strategies to support patients with pelvic health conditions. Away from work, Lauren is also a beekeeper, french horn extraordinaire, and mom of 2 feisty teenagers.

Kimberly M. Glow, PT, DPT is a Massachusetts-based physical therapist with a focus on both pelvic floor dysfunction and orthopedics. Kim graduated with her doctorate in physical therapy from MGHIHP after completing her undergraduate work in Classics at UNH. She believes in the healing power of movement, and the power of the biopsychosocial connection. She has a passion for seamlessly treating pelvic floor dysfunction and orthopedic dysfunction as inter-related components. As an auspicious educator, Kim has been involved with many community-based education programs, including postpartum support groups and the like. Kimberly has been a faculty educator and curriculum team member with Herman and Wallace, teaching new and experienced clinicians pelvic floor treatment and strategies, since 2019.
Kimberly has a special passion for treating athletes with pelvic floor dysfunction, and returning them to the sport or movement style they most love. Her practice includes treatment of bowel, bladder, sexual, and abdominal dysfunction for all genders, as well as all breadths of orthopedic dysfunction. She has a passion for lifelong learning, and education. Currently, Kimberly practices out of Rhode Island. Kim enjoys her spare time with her husband and son, being outdoors, and reading.

Cindy Foy, PT, DPT has been a practicing physical therapist for over 10 years. She works for Southcoast Health in a not for profit hospital based outpatient clinic. She provides skilled physical therapy to patients with many orthopedic diagnoses. Through her own pregnancy and postpartum journey she developed a passion for understanding provision of safe exercise prescription and rehabilitation needs to her fellow Mom community. She works in collaboration with a team of pelvic health rehabilitation providers to improve patient access for pregnant and postpartum women to the most comprehensive plan of care.
Cindy stays busy outside of work being a mom to 2 beautiful boys. They spend time digging in the dirt and watering the vegetable garden. In her free moments, she enjoys reading spicy literature and spending time with friends and family.
