Heather is a graduate of Simmons College where she quickly learned the value of APTA through attending National and State Conference. She has maintained a strong belief that membership in our professional organization is vital to the future of the Physical Therapy profession. She has committed to life-long learning and evidence-based practice. Heather is a Board Certified Neurological Clinical Specialist working in the acute care and acute rehab setting with Veterans in the New England area. She serves as a program coordinator and mentor to VA Boston's Neurological Physical Therapy Residency program and as adjunct faculty in the neurological curriculum at Simmons College. She also holds a position on the Academy of Acute Care Physical Therapy Finance Committee.

Vickie has a Bachelor’s Degree in Athletic Training from Springfield College and been a Physical Therapist since receiving her Masters from Sacred Heart University in 2000. She later received her DPT from Sacred Heart in 2010.    Her clinical strengths include orthopedics, sports medicine, geriatrics, as well as neurological care, women’s health and Oncology Rehab.  Vickie has been active as a member of the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) since joining in 1997. Her Chapter involvement includes BOD, Program Committee, Nominating Committee Chair, District Chair and Delegate for the CT Chapter for many years. She was elected Alternate Delegate in GA but was unable to complete a term due to her move back east to MA.  Since being here, she has been a Central District Assembly Rep, Delegate and Alternate Delegate which is a nice Segway into the Speaker role.

Maegan Brady PT, DPT, Secretary

Maegen B. Brady, PT, DPT has practiced in private outpatient orthopedics at Cummings Physical Therapy in Winthrop since she graduated with her Doctor of Physical Therapy from the University of Connecticut in 2014.  Maegen had been getting more involved in the APTA Public Policy Committee over the past year. She has been working to oppose the Athletic Training Legislation and testified at the State House on how the current legislation, as proposed, would expand the ATC scope of practice without making appropriate changes to educational standards. This past September, Maegen acted as a delegate to the APTA State Payment and Policy Forum in Detroit, MI. Maegen seeks to serve as Secretary to the Massachusetts chapter of the APTA to listen and report at the State level for our profession’s organization.

Kyle Rodenhi PT, DPT

Kyle has over 16 years of clinical experience in orthopedic / sports physical therapy.  He received his BS in Allied Health from the University of Connecticut in 1999, his MS in Physical Therapy from the University of Connecticut in 2001, and his transitional Doctorate in Physical Therapy from Boston University in 2011. Kyle is a board certified Orthopedic Clinical Specialist through the American Physical Therapy Association and a Certified Golf Fitness Instructor, Medical Professional and Golf Biomechanist from the Titleist Performance Institute.  Kyle has previously worked at Mass General’s Sports PT Department and Sports Performance Center as well as at Rhode Island hospital.  He currently is a Clinical Specialist in the Department of Rehabilitation Services at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Foxboro, MA.

Laura Gull, PT, Chief Delegate

Laura began her APTA service nationally as the student PT delegate to the House of Delegates in 2008. She then continued to serve in the House as a delegate for the MA chapter and is now in her second term as Chief Delegate.  During her time as Chief, the MA delegation has introduced quite a few concepts to the House, including motions addressing electronic health records, recognition of physical therapy in research publications, and ameliorating administrative burden in PT practice.  She has also served a term on the Board as Northern Metro District Chief prior to her move to the Central District. She is currently working in administration to ensure practice quality at Ramsey Rehab, with a clinical focus in sports and orthopedics.  She especially enjoys her time spent at the local high school coordinating care of student-athletes with the athletic training staff and sports physician.

Aimee is currently employed by Genesis Rehab Services as a Regional Clinical Director and by MGH – Institute of Health Profession as Lab Instructor for the entry level DPT program. Aimee brings 20 years of experience in physical therapy with the past 13 years exclusively in care of the older adult in the Skilled Nursing and Assisted Living settings. Additional experience includes acute care, aquatics, inpatient rehab, and outpatient care as well as certified training in Kinesio taping, NDT, LSVT Big and TBI behavior prevention. Aimee received her MSPT from Boston University in 1997 and her DPT from MGH Institute of Health Professions in 2007. She is committed to life-long learning and has been an active member in the APTA in various capacities. She is currently a member of the APTA Academy of Neurology Practice Committee, APTA Academy of Geriatrics State Advocate program, the MA Fall Prevention Coalition and several speaker’s bureaus. Additionally Aimee achieved National Board Certification as a NCS in 2008 and Geriatrics Certified Expert for the Aging Adult in 2010.

Tara Maroney, PT, DPT, GCS, CEEAA graduated from Sacred Heart University’s Doctorate of Physical Therapy Program and completed a residency in geriatrics at the Jewish Home for the Elderly. She is a board-certified specialist in geriatrics and is currently employed at Weldon Rehabilitation Hospital in Springfield, Massachusetts. Tara has remained an active member of the American Physical Therapy Association and a member of the Academy of Geriatric Physical Therapy. Tara has held positions as Co-Chair of the New Professionals Special Interest Group in Connecticut and Vice Chair of North Carolina’s Sandhills District. She is looking forward to her term as the Chief Assembly Representative of the Western District.

Mary Kate is a #freshPT who graduated from Springfield College in 2016. Her primary clinical interests lie in orthopedics and sports, and her passion is helping people of all ages perform the activities they want without pain. Mary Kate was inspired to get more involved in the APTA after traveling to Nashville for NEXT in 2016, and was hooked on promoting the profession of Physical Therapy and educating others about the value of APTA membership. She also serves as an Assembly Representative for the Northern Metro District. Currently, she is studying for her Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist.

Carolyn Cwalinski, Geriatric Special Interest Group Chair

 

Board Certified Specialist in Geriatric Physical Therapy

 

Dr. Cwalinski graduated from Northeastern University (NU) in 1997 with a B.S. in physical therapy.  She became a certified early intervention specialist while attaining her Master of Science in physical therapy from NU in 1998.  In 1999, she was accepted as a fellow in the Leadership Education in Neurodevelopmental Disabilities (LEND) program at Children’s Hospital Boston through the Institute for Community Inclusion.   Then, in 2004 she became an adjunct faculty member at NU.  It was during this time, she became interested in working with an adult population again and began treating patients in a rehabilitation setting.  Having an interest in balance and it’s relation to the vestibular system, she pursued further education and attended courses specializing in vestibular rehabilitation Missing the academic environment, Dr. Cwalinski returned to teaching at Bay State College in 2010. Dr. Cwalinski attained her Doctorate in Physical Therapy from The College of St. Scholastica in 2015 and in 2016 she became a board certified geriatric clinical specialist.

Colleen is Physical Therapist Assistant and Certified Stroke Rehabilitation Specialist.  She is a therapist at New Bridge on the Charles of Hebrew Seniorlife.  She specializes in geriatric rehabilitation and is trained in safe patient handling.  She received her physical therapy training from Bay State College. She also received her bachelors from the University of New England in Exercise Science with honors and is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist.  She recently got involved in the APTA of MA chapter spearheading the physical therapist assistant special interest group. She continues to be an active member of the APTA of MA including within the Membership Committee and as a representative of the Southern Metro District.

Matt is the owner of Advanced Sports Therapy LLC while also the owner of Sports Rehabilitation Unlimited LLC in Middleton, MA. He is a licensed physical therapist and athletic trainer in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. He holds a Bachelor's Degree in Biology from Tufts University, a Master's Degree in Physical Therapy from Columbia University and a Doctorate Degree in Physical Therapy from Northeastern University.

Matt has trained extensively in the Maitland-Australian Physiotherapy Approach to manual and manipulative therapy. In addition, he is a Level 1 Certified Golf Fitness Instructor through the Titleist Performance Institute and works with the Wellesley Country Club Fitness Center providing rehabilitation services for its members. Matt and the staff at AST provide injury assessment, injury prevention and rehabilitation services for the Dreamfar High School Marathon Team, a locally-based organization dedicated to supporting athletes in marathon training and development. In addition, Matt is a published author in the Sports Medicine Arthroscopic Review and Orthopedic Physical Therapy Practice journals.

David Nolan PT, DPT, MS, Shoulder Special Interest Group Chair

David is a Clinical Specialist at the Mass General Sports Physical Therapy Service and the Director of the MGH
/ Northeastern University Sports Physical Therapy Residency Program. He received a Bachelors of Science
degree in Physical Therapy from Northeastern University in 1997 and completed his Masters of Science degree
with an Orthopedic Specialization and Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from Massachusetts General Hospital
Institute of Health Professionals in 2007.


Dr. Nolan is a board certified Orthopedic Clinical Specialist and Sports Clinical Specialist through the
American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties and a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist through
the National Strength and Conditioning Association. David is also an Associate Clinical Professor at
Northeastern University in the Department of Physical Therapy, Movement and Rehabilitation Sciences.


David has lectured nationally on running related injury, functional biomechanics, gait and lower quarter
dysfunction. He is a past recipient of the “Excellence in Clinical Teaching” award from the New England
Consortium of Academic Coordinators of Clinical Education. Dr. Nolan was also presented with the 2016
award for Outstanding Achievement in Clinical Practice by the Massachusetts Chapter of the APTA.

Michael is currently a second year DPT student at the University of Massachusetts Lowell and graduated from the same school with a bachelors in exercise physiology.  He served on the Student Membership Committee of the APTA Student Assembly in 2017 and is the current chair of the Student SIG. He is eager to get involved and advocates for others to do the same.  His interests include neuro, geriatrics and orthopedics.
