We are honored to have Pat Ford join our Annual Conference as the Keynote Speaker to present "This Part of My Life is Called..."
Dr. Patrick Ford, PT, DPT, OCS is a Physical Therapist who has worked in outpatient physical therapy in Des Moines, IA since 2018. The murder of George Floyd and the subsequent events following his death in 2020 was one of many life-shifting moments for Patrick. This lead to Dr. Ford to deeply reflect on his own experiences with racism and how he can better show up for his community. Thus, he co-founded and is the President of Project Onyx, a non-profit with the goal of eliminating the barriers that BIPOC individuals face in regards to their health and fitness. He also became an educator and coach for clinicians surrounding the topics of Antiracism and DEIB and recently launched his course ‘Antiracism and DEIB for Clinicians’.
In June of 2022, Dr. Ford sustained a cerebellar and medullary stroke which forced him to make drastic changes to his and his family’s lives. The trials and challenges of overcoming a stroke at the age of 30 has given Dr. Ford another shift in his perspective of life and what it means to fulfill his greater purpose(s).
