Student Marquette Challenge
Massachusetts Schools Accept the ’09 Challenge for Physical Therapy Research By: Natalie Fuerst Last year, 64 schools participated in the Georgia State-Marquette Challenge including MGH Institute of Health Professions, Boston University-Sargent College, and Springfield College. Congratulations to MGHIHP for receiving an honorable mention for their impressive total of $10,000! Also, congratulations to BU-Sargent for receiving an honorable mention as well for their total of $3,000! The 2009 Challenge raised over $200,000 for the Foundation for Physical Therapy in support of research. The Foundation for Physical Therapy and students from Marquette and Georgia State wish to thank the students from MGH Institute of Health Professions, Boston University-Sargent College, and Springfield College for their contribution and dedication to the Challenge. It could not have been as successful without your hard work and we look forward to another great year. The University of Miami raised the most funds of any school in the Georgia State-Marquette Challenge last year. We welcome the University of Miami, now a five-time Challenge winner, back to the position of co-host for the ’09-’10 Miami-Marquette Challenge. We encourage all PT and PTA students from Massachusetts to step up to the Challenge to receive recognition and a chance at one of the awards given to the top fund raising schools! Challenge dollars support grants that fund research studies of the effectiveness of physical therapy interventions, as well as support physical therapists in research doctoral programs. The deadline for submitting donations is May 5, 2010. Please send all checks to the Foundation for Physical Therapy, 1111 N Fairfax St, Alexandria, VA, 22314. Make sure to identify your school and a contact person. To learn more about this year’s Miami-Marquette Challenge, please visit the Foundation’s Web site at www.FoundationforPhysicalTherapy.org.
